Civil Services Examination

We have published about civil service examination in our last edition. This edition we are publishing more information related to civil service examination. All states capital of north eastern states have exam centre for the preliminary exams.
Through CSAT or Civil Services Aptitude Test, the Union Public Service Commission is intended to choose suitable candidates who not only have the knowledge but also the aptitude for reasoning and analytical power. Preliminary exam is objective type and there is negative marking for wrong answers.
The number of vacancies which is filled every year varies but it is more less 1000 to 1200 every year. This number might change depending upon available vacancies in various services. There are reservations for physically challenged, scheduled tribes, scheduled castes or other backward classes as fixed by the government.
There has been a change in the upper age and at present the upper age for appearing the preliminary exam is 32. There is age relaxation for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste and also for Other Backward Classes. Age relaxation is there for physically challenged candidates. Aspirants may read the details of the age relaxation in the advertisements being published before the exam by UPSC.
The minimum educational qualification to appear in the exam is graduate from any recognized university The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.
Doctors and engineers are also eligible to appear in the exam. There is limited number of attempts for general students which include 6 attempts. There is relaxation in attempts by reserved students like students from SC, ST or OBC categories. There is also relaxation for the physically challenged students. The exam fee is 100 (Rupees one hundred only), however female candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST or physically challenged are not required to pay any examination fee.

Malaysian Scholarship: Malaysian Government is offering Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) for pursuing masters and PhD degree programme in any selected and well-established Malaysian public and private universities. Last date is 15th September for sending online applications.
Commonwealth Scholarships: Online application is invited from Indian national to apply for '2017 Commonwealth Scholarships tenable in the United Kingdom' for Master's & Doctoral degree programme. Last date is 16th September.
Mexican Scholarship: The government of Mexico has announced scholarships for the year 2017. There are undergraduate and post graduate courses apart from specializations and Ph D programmes. Last date is 15th September.
IBPS: The clerical selection under Institute of Banking Personnel Selection would be held on December and January. Aspirants may fill up the application on or before 12th September.
"Ishan Uday" For North Eastern Region: Students with domicile of NER who have passed Class XII or equivalent exam from a school situated within NER through any recognized Board of Education may apply for Ishan Uday Scholarships. Last date is 15th September.
