An Ode to Youth
Yanglem Akash Singh *
You are so young,
You should be leaving the maps behind; getting lost, finding your own path at your own pace.
Everything you're scared of losing,
You've perhaps lost it already.
The only thing you should be giving up on is thinking they'd come back and apologise.
Maybe no one will write a song about you,
Maybe no one will hear the anxiety you keep silent,
Maybe you'll never find a friend in your city,
Maybe you'll never decide on what your favourite food is.
But in the end however,
Maybe you'll fall for someone, no matter how much your heart rebels.
Maybe one day when you go to the coffee shop alone, you won't leave alone.
When you peer into the sky, it's gazing back at you
and maybe that counts for something, something worthvvhile...
