A deep sleep
Maibam Ibempishak Chanu *
Deep, a deep sleep,
without a dream
the best hour to be cherished,
in a life full of worthy.
In a moment of wakefulness
ceaseless streams of pondering, in
passing shadows torment me.
Here I recline, on a nimble mote
ever drifting in a feeble ray,
darkness inaccessible, all around
sealed together, in a nutshell
forever; my identity and destiny.
Love ones fall asleep,
one after another;
bidding my soul for the unknown
with endless quest, beyond the horizon.
