The Matter Should Be Taken To Court For Final Verdict |

The crisis in the Manipur University has further deepened. Will this crisis herald the on set of doom's day for the lone and only one University of the state? The sacred academic institute has been dragged to street. It has been spoilt. The matter cannot be left like this. The matter should receive the attention of the highest authority of the land. This is really unprecedented. Heads of Departments of the University have tendered resignation in protest against the appointment of Dr N Bijoy as Vice Chancellor of the University. Where lies the solution? Will Dr Bijoy turn down the appointment as Vice Chancellor to pacify the warring teaching community or will the warring teachers subside on their own in the same manner of flowers withering after being plucked. Time will tell that. This will be the acid test for the new incumbent, who is yet to assume the charge of Vice Chancellor of the University. But the war is just beginning to intensify. The truth however is that the teachers in the University feel humiliated when they see a stranger occupying a post they considered their own. These warring teachers boldly say that there are enough men in the University and one among them could easily man the post. Could the University Professors on roaster system look after the post of Vice Chancellor in the same manner of load shedding programme without making any formal appointment in this connection? Why the appointment became a necessity? Supposing if Prof H Tombi decides to come back and take up the post he deserted, will the crisis end? Something needs to be done to save the sacred academic institute from all these brouhaha, which has threatened to rock the basic foundation. Manipur is in the map of India for carrying out abnormal practices which includes formation of Govt and keeping of oversized Ministry, the strength of which crosses the magic figure of simple majority needed for keeping a Govt alive. If the concerned authority cannot take a decision on the matter the same should be taken to law court for a final verdict on the matter. Will that be acceptable to all?
