Road Blockade not acceptable, will be lifted anytime: Kiren Rijiju
The 52 days old economic-blockade on the two national highways will be lifted anytime, said the Union Minister of State, Home Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju in a press conference held today at the Old Secretariat Conference Hall.
It may be now, today or tomorrow. Both the two national highways, (NH2 and NH 37) should be opened at any situation. He also assured people of Manipur would not suffer any longer due to the blockade as the central government is ready to provide any assistance or help required to lessen the suffering of the same.
Mentioning about the meeting held today with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and other top officials of the state, he said the meeting was very constructive and very positive.
As the system of the nation is federal, any decision can’t be taken alone but only through consultation with the concerned authority. The disposal of law & order is absolutely in the domain of the state government.
Adequate security personnel i.e 184 companies’ from the centre are already present in the state for guarding border, for maintaining the internal security etc. Seven companies are also on the way, more will be sent in accordance with the requirement.
When it comes to humanitarian crisis, there is no political colour, though we represent different parties. Common people’s life should not be affected. From today onwards all the basic steps, whatever is necessary will be taken up soon, the union minister added.
The Joint Secretary of the Union Home Ministry was also attended the press conference.
