Train connectivity of North Eastern State to Kanniyakumari regarding
- PR from Kanniyakumari District Railway User's Association -
February 10th 2010
Kanyakumari, the southern-most point in India, is a world–renowned tourist center and pilgrims from all over India and foreign countries visit this tourist place regularly throughout the year. North Eastern States are again another place of interest to those people visiting Kanyakumari. There is no Railway direct connectivity between North Eastern States cities, although many pilgrims and tourist travel between and many intermediate stations.
The train no. 2666/2665 Howrah -Kaniyakumari- Howrah is of great help to travelers to central and northeastern states of India from the southern district of Tamilnadu. But this train service is now available only once a week.
Train No. 2663/2664 Howrah -Tiruchchirappalli Bi-weekly and 5030/5029 Chennai Egmore- Dibrugarh Town weekly express trains. If these two trains can be extended up to Kaniyakumari by adjusting the time and date and it can be operated in following manner for the more benefit of the passengers.
i. 2666/2665 Howrah –Kaniyakumari weekly train extend up to Guwahati
ii. 2663/2664 Howrah -Tiruchchirappalli Bi-weekly train extend up to Kaniyakumari
iii. 5030/5029 Chennai Egmore- Dibrugarh Town weekly train extend up to Kaniyakumari Via. Madurai
Therefore, it is kindly requested that suitable steps may be initiated to operate the above mentioned train up to Kanniyakumari at the earliest to facilitate better travel for our people. Kindly have this implemented in the forthcoming railway budget (Feb 2010).
It is highly appreciated if you could consider this matter with serious attention.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
