New Delhi, October 1, 2010
The Naga Students' Union, Delhi released the book 'Nagas Today: Indigenous Discourse' in a function held at Nagaland house, 29 Aurangzeb Road, New Delhi on 30th September, 2010. The occasion was graced by Dr. Shurhozelie, Hon'ble Minister for Urban Development and Higher Education, Government of Nagaland and as Guest of Honour, Fr Abraham Lotha, Vice-Principle, St. Joseph's College, Jakhama, who is also one of the contributors of the book.Nagas Today critically interrogates the contemporary situations and conventional understanding of the Nagas in an attempt to usher a new paradigm for discourses on the Nagas. It is essentially an indigenous discourse focusing on the history, politics, gender issues, education, art and culture of the Nagas, wherein the authors attempt to link the prevailing social and political scenarios with the historical past for the explanation to the vexing issues besieging Naga society.
The Naga Students' Union, Delhi is highly indebted to Hon'ble Chief Minister of Nagaland, Shri. Neiphiu Rio, who has generously funded the publication of Nagas Today: Indigenous Discourse. His contribution has made this maiden project a reality.
The NSUD executives would also like to wholeheartedly like to thank all the people that have given their time and energy to the releasing of the book.
