Tehelka: The Lake and The Fake Firm
April 03, 2010
When thousands of volunteers and campaigners of WORLDWIDE SAVE LOKTAK LAKE
CAMPAIGN were gearing up for the event, we heard of a big project that has been launched
in Manipur for clearing up of Phumdis in Loktak. Loktak Development Authority, LDA has
given the contract to a company called K Pro Infra Works Private Ltd. Delhi. In order to
inquire about the works that is going to be taken up in Loktak, we search for this company in
Delhi (Flat No A-104, Plot No 29, New Friends Apartment, Sector 6, Dwarka, a private
residential property), however we were not able to trace the company after which we search
on internet to get some information of the company but without success.
Now we were aware of the fact that the company is a fake one and like most of our
development money of the state goes to pockets of few rich people, conservation of natural
heritage like our dear Loktak Lake is even not spared. Dr. Ranjan, IBCN state Co-ordinator
and Khuraijam Jibankumar Singh, NECEER, Imphal were concerned about this and
expressed about it during the Imphal Campaign of WORLDWIDE SAVE LOKTAK LAKE
CAMPAIGN on 7th March 2010 which took place in DM College of Science, Imphal.
Recent issue of TEHELKA comes with a story: The Lake and The Fake Firm which exposed
the detail of the company and a big conspiracy behind the project.

( From Tehelka Magazine, Vol 7, Issue 13, Dated April 03, 2010 )
Manipur urgently need an environmental and wildlife advocacy organisation who could voice
the wrong doings of the government agencies and departments or violation of WILDLIFE
PROTECTION ACT, 1972 in districts of Senapati, Tamenglong, Chandel and Ukhrul.
Just protests or dharnas are not going to give solution; proper legal action should be taken up. Our
state is very weak in taking up any legal action (may be due to several FEAR FACTORS from all DIRECTIONS and lack of concern).
** Khuraijam Jibankumar Singh, ALS (Associate of Linnean Society of London), Managing Trustee of NECEER, Imphal is Worldwide Co-ordinator of the campaign.
