INVITATION FOR PARTICIPATION/MEDIA COVERAGE
The Gangte Welfare Association – Youth Wing is organizing a peaceful rally in protest against the discriminatory policy of Manipur University in failing to give away the much awaited Dr TS Gangte Memorial Gold Medal instituted in January 2008 for the topper in M.Sc Anthropology Examination in Social and Cultural Anthropology during its 30th Foundation Day cum Medal Presentation Ceremony held on June 5, 2010.
The rally will begin at 1500 hrs on 12th June, 2010 from Teen Murti, New Delhi and will march towards Manipur Bhawan, SP Marg, New Delhi. Various tribal student organizations of North East India have also pledged to support and participate in the said rally as the grievance arises out of communal discrimination against the tribals of Manipur by the said University.
A memorandum is proposed to be submitted to the Hon'ble Union Minister of Human Resources Development and Governor of Manipur through the Resident Commissioner of Manipur, New Delhi during the rally.
We sincerely request the General Public, Social Organizations and Media Teams to kindly co-operate, support and stand together with us in our fight for justice against the discriminatory policiesof the Manipur University towards the minority communities of the country in general and the tribals of Manipur in particular, so that such incident of discrimination is not repeated, the guilty punished in accordance with the law of the land and justice is done by rectifying such omissions.
Thanking you.
