65 Birthday of Nobel Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi at New Delhi

New Delhi, June 18, 2010
19th June 2010 is the 65th Birthday of the Burmese Democratic leader and 1991 Nobel Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.
Aung San Suu Kyi’s Party, National League for Democracy (NLD) won the 1990 elections by more than 80% of the parliamentary seats.
Since that election, she has spent 14 out of the past 20 years under detention and currently also she is unlawfully detained under house arrest by the military regime in Burma.
Indian Parliamentarians and Political leaders, Civil Society groups and Individuals from India will join the Burmese democratic forces in India to honor her birthday with solidarity messages to her and her long and persistent struggle for the restoration of democracy in Burma on her birthday as per the schedule mentioned below.
