Burmese military chief Senior General Than Shwe with 70-member team is visiting India from 27 to 29 July. He is supposed to arrive at Bodh Gaya before he flies to Delhi. Though his visit is covered with religious matter, his real mission could be business with Tata.
Before Than Shwe left for India his foreign minister U Nyan Win will have to receive North Korean counterpart Paek Nam Sun on 23rd July. Thanks to Democratic Voice of Burma and Al Jazeera for revealing junta's secret nuclear installation attempts with the help from North Korea. This shows the military regime is perfectly at its ease between two opposites, the largest democracy India and the worst tyrant North Korea.
Burmese military chief will be the valuable guest of Tata at Jamshedpur in Jhakhand State, also known as TataNagar. After Than Shwe's visit, Tata will go in Burma in September this year. The popular Nano car production plan in Burma is facing problems for extraordinary charges by the military officials. However it is sure that after Than Shwe's visit Tata is going to help junta's industrial plan which is one of the key fundraisers for junta's secret military as well as political ambitions.
The people of Burma do not expect those high profile visit will bring any hope. United Nations and the Unites States want India to use her liberty to promote Burma's freedom. But India needs quiet eastern border more than before after the failed dialogue with archrival Pakistan. The people joke French policy towards Burma is influenced by TOTAL Oil which is one of the biggest foreign investors in Burma and fueling the junta with hundreds of millions of dollars every year.
At this juncture it is interesting to see if Tata becomes deciding force of India's Burma policy.
