An Open Letter To Smt. Sonia Gandhi
Madam, Smt. Sonia Gandhi
Hon'ble C hairperson, UPA,
New Delhi, India
We understand that the Congress led SPF Government is making elaborate arrangement with eye-washing works of repairing and renovation of Imphal city in the name of welcoming you for inauguration of the 4 years old but recently completed 3 market building of historic Ima market of Khwairamband Bazar of Imphal city, associated with other markets, institutions and Khuga Dam of Churachandpur which is now prevailing in the incomplete stage of construction.
Madam, we dare to point out the fact that the work for construction of Ima market was originally approved and sanctioned in the year 2001 when our great leader shri Atal Behari Vajpayee was Prime Minister during the regime of NDA government in the centre. The construction work of the first ever OVER BRIDGE facing by you from your honorable chair in the dais of the inaugural function was also constructed by the fund of NDA government in 2001. Among other points and promises you have to give to the historic mothers of Manipur. Would you please without prejudice give a gratitude to Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee for the value of the vision and respect to the women community of Manipur for construction of Ima Market buildings for which today in the inauguration stage?
Madam, your political wisdom and maneuvering that succeeded you to be the 4th term unopposed Congress President was proudly praised by your like-minded Congress groups taking advantage of dynasty rule is fractured somewhere that you have missed, your urban Development Minister who is the right person to inaugurate Ima Market buildings. This is gross violation of rules of business of administration may be in the centre or state.
Medam, please donot forget the history of Manipur with rich cultural heritage and tradition which was merged with the Indian Union on the 15th Oct. 1945. Your Congress Party which has ruled the state for many years has created alienation due to step motherly treatment. Please understand that development works should go with the initiative for promotion of emotional integration just to build a strong and modern India. With this prime agenda, Manipur is to be made a great state of prosperity and defender in the eastern India.
Madam, in the name of peace process in between govt. of India and NSCN(IM), people of Manipur were facing untold suffering to unprecedented blockade on National Highways 39 and 53 more than 3 months. Why you were blind on that time of crisis and extreme suffering of the people. Not a single Minister of your party visited Manipur to share the sufferings of the people of the state. Thanks to BJP National leaders. Please join to appreciate them for their visit to Manipur at the time when the state and people of Manipur were reeling under turmoil and crisis of economic blockade and serious incidents of July 23rd, 2009 which completely took 6 months old movement against Manipur Police Commandos for killing Rabina, a pregnant mother of 6 months old child and Sanjit.
Shri Prakash Javedkar (MP), National Spokesperson, BJP led the Parliamentary team with Smt Bijoya Chakravarty (MP), National Vice President, Shri Raman Deka, MP and Shri Rajen Gohain (MP) visited Manipur to take stock of the serious situation of the movement demanding for taking befitted action against the erring police commandos of Manipur. Police which is said to be compromised by giving 5 lacs to the leaders of movement by Shri O. Ibobi Singh, Home Minister, your Chief Minister.
Besides, the dignified visit of Smt. Sushma Swaraj (MP), Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha with Shri SS. Alhuwalia (MP), Dy. Leader, Rajya Sabha, Shri Chandan Mitra (MP) an eminent journalist, National Spokesperson and Shri Tapir Gao, National Secy. BJP to share with the serious problems of the people of the state due to cruel actions of economic blockade which took more than 3 months called by Naga NGOs on National Highways 39 & 53 which was said to had been done under the influence of NSCN (IM).
Further, the historic political calling attention was tabled in Lok Sabha on 19.8.2010 by Medam Bijoya Chakravarty (MP), National Vice President, BJP supplemented by Medam Sushma Swaraj questioning the govt. of India for the extreme suffering of the people of Manipur due to economic blockade. The assurance given by Shri P. Chindabaram as Union Home Minister to assure the people of Manipur arising out of economic blockade and unprecended price rise of essential commodities and scarcity of petroleum products was not yet practically fulfilled to the people of Manipur.
Besides, the political parties and MPS across the party line right from yourself in both the houses of Parliament witnessed that Bijoya Chakravarty, MP moved the calling attention motion on 9.8.2010 supplemented by Madam Sushma Swaraj. Reply was given by Shri P. Chindambram, Hon'ble Home Minister. No improvement has yet seen with the assurance given by the Home Minister in the Home. Our anguish over there. Madam, why don't you appreciation for the political steps taken up by the BJP National leaders who are now in opposition for the cause of the people of Manipur. Further Tarun Bijoy also moved for discussion in Rajya Sabha on the subsequent day.
Madam, BJP, Manipur Pradesh would have shared to welcome you at Imphal City if you have come by road on National Highways 53 by road where your BRO is continuing to construct the work enjoying huge crores through BRO without giving any improvement for such a long of 20/30 years period. Our suggest is to witness the pathetic condition by your good self.
Besides the points highlighted in the above paras, kindly see that there is no public distribution system in Manipur. Petrol, Diesel, Cooking gas, Kerosene, fertilizer products are sold in black marketing. There is no check and control. People have been left to the mercy of black marketer, hoarders and unscrupulous traders.
We demands the followings for your assurance.
1. Before your visit to Imphal announce the details of the arrest and whereabouts of R.K. Meghen, Chairman of UNLF and give assurance to bring to India as was treated to ULFA leaders of Assam.
2. Give assurance to withdraw Armed Forces Special Powers Acts, 1958 from the State of Manipur and North Eastern states which was imposed by your Govt., paying respect to Meetei Chanu Sharmila who is fast to death, Hunger Strike against the Act.
3. Give assurance to rehabilitate the unfortunate widows of Manipur whose husbands were killed in the name of fake counter insurgency operation.
4. Give direction to your Chief Minister to accommodate the interested business women of both hill and plain including the street vendors in the 3 market buildings.
5. Revoke the undemocratic order of suspension of Imphal Municipal Council which is the only prestigious council in Manipur.
6. Give direction for smooth functioning of PDS System and to stop black marketing in the open market.
Madam, above all the points stated above that the condition of road of National highways no 39 & 53 is so bad in comparision with other National highways in the country. We are thankful to drivers of Manipur for taking the risk of their lives in the horrible conditions of National highways.
Madam, we propose you to take your visit to Imphal by road on National highway 53 just to acquaint the horrible situation of the road which demand for immediate construction of the road at national standard.
Can we across the party line sincerely hope that common people do not suffer from the inapt handling of your ibobi led spf ministry in manipur.
Salam Ibohal Singh (Former Minister)
