Tokyo Games silver medallist and India's only weightlifter at the Paris Olympics 2024, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu will be looking for her second Olympic medal as she compete among top 120 athletes from across the world on August 7 .
The quadrennial sporting extravaganza is beginning tonight in Paris with over 10,000 athletes across 32 sports disciplines.
India is fielding a strong contingent of 117 athletes across 16 sports at the games and notably, Mirabai is India's only athlete to feature in weightlifting.
Mirabai, one of the country's medal hopes will feature in the women's 49kg category and the weightlifting competition will begin from 11 pm onwards on August 7 .
Tokyo Games bronze medallist in hockey, Shang-lakpam Nilakanta is another athlete from Manipur to be a part of the National hockey team for the games but as an alternate player after failing to make it to the 16-member final squad
