Naga American Foundation announces new Officers and 2023 Conference

The Board of Directors of the Naga American Foundation (NAF) held its annual meeting in Melbourne, Arkansas on July 16, 2022 — the board’s first in-person meeting since the pandemic began. Board members discussed items pertaining to the NAF and the Naga community in the US and decided on some key appointments and decisions, which are recorded below.

The board is happy to announce the appointment of Dr. Sanyo Konyak of Rockford, Illinois as the new president of the NAF. Dr. Konyak will be taking over from Ms. Honili Sema, who held the position of president since 2016.

The board is also happy to name Tiala Chang of Buffalo Grove, Illinois as the organization’s new treasurer. Ms. Chang will be taking over from Esther Dennis, who held the post of NAF treasurer since 2012.

The board is also excited to announce that the next NAF Conference will take place on July 7 and 8, 2023, in Edison, New Jersey. The NAF extends its heartfelt appreciation to Rev. Dr. Louis Ao and family, who have agreed to serve as conference hosts.

Dr. Sanyo Konyak, in a brief message to the Naga American community, expressed his thanks to Ms. Sema and Ms. Dennis for their years of tireless service to the NAF. He also lauded the great strides the Naga American community continues to make in the United States and expressed his commitment to foster connections and strengthen ties among the Naga community in the country.
