Tourism
Tourism comprises "the activities of persons traveling to and in place
outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year
or leisure, business and other purposes. In relation to a given country the
following forms of tourism can be distinguished.
(a)Domestic tourism, involving resident of a given country
traveling only within the country.
(b) Inbound tourism, involving non resident traveling in a given
country.
(c) Outbound tourism, involving resident traveling in another country
However for the purpose of tourism statistics and in
conformity with the basic forms of tourism, tourists should
be classified as
(1)International Visitors, person who travels
to a country other than that in which he/she/his /her residence
but outside his / her usual environment for a period not exceeding
12 months and whose main purpose of visit is other than the
exercise of activity remunerated from within the country visited.
International visitors include overnight visitors and same day
visitors.
(2)Domestic visitors, Domestic visitor describes any person
residing in a country, who travels to a place within the country
outside his/her environment for a period not exceeding 12 months
and whose purpose of visit is other than the exercise of activity
remunerated from within the place visited. Domestic visitors
comprise overnight visitors, who spend the night in a private
accommodation in the place visited and same day visitors who
do not spend a night in collective or private accommodation
in the place visited.
