Khoupum Valley, situated at 83 Kms on Old Cachar Road known by the people of Manipur as "Tongjeimarin" a Block HQ and SDO/SDC Centre in Khoupum Sub-Division of Tamenglong District is a small beautiful and picturesque 2nd Biggest Valley of Manipur with and area of 600 hectres surrounded by evergreen forests inhabited by around 20 Rongmei Villages in and around the valley.
This small valley is decorated by a huge Khoupum Earthem Dam. Moreover the valley with two Rivers - Mingchenthuak (Mingchen River) and Duigumpangthuak (Duigumpang River) with evergreen bushy Ganmajung trees along the rivers flowing down west ward beautifying across the valley.
A century old Banyan tree planted by (Late) Shri. Khanguangpou Rongmei of upper khoupum village, which is still standing on the pre-historic hillock "Guungpungbut" in the middle of the valley; a picnic spot turned beautiful natural Waterfall (Khouduang) at the southern end of the valley.
Its fascinating flora & fauna coupled with enchanting paddy fields, attributing to the beauty of Khoupum Valley. Lt Col. Chapman of the British Engineering Force stationed at Samriangtiang Camp during World War II described Khoupum Valley as "Beautiful little valley" as written in his book, "The Lampi" Dr. Sajjad Hassan, Deput)' Commissioner (IAS), Tamenglong once remarked it as "Wonderful valley inside the Hills", during his official visit to Khoupum Valley.
Khoupum valley really needs proper exploration by the Dept, of Tourism with construction of Tourist Home with necessary amenities and facilities for visiting tourists so that this God given beautiful valley may turn out to be a attractive Tourists Centre in near future.
