Imphal, December 10 2011:
After much wait, the final match of the ongoing 55th Sir Churachand Singh, KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, 2011 will be played tomorrow at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium between Assam Rifles Soccer Team and NEROCA, Sangakpham at 1.30 pm.
It is the fifth time for the Assam Rifles in the final match of CC Meet for the coveted trophy while NEROCA will be playing for the second time.
Meanwhile, the All Manipur Football Association today announced the contenders of its various individual prizes which will be distributed during the closing ceremony of the tournament.
The title for Male Footballer of the Year was conferred to Nabachandra of NISA, Thangmeiban while Tababi of MPSC was adjusted the Female Footballer of the Year.
W Ngouba of AIM, Ksh Kanta of MPSC and Thangkhosen Kipgen of USA head the list of Top Scorer of the tournament while Akum Ao of Assam Rifles follows them with two goals in his account.
If Akum Ao could score two goals in the final match tomorrow, he can yet become the Top Scorer.
SSU coach S Premkanta, NISA coach Kh Ratan and TRAU coach Kh Surmani are among the top list for the title of Best Coach.
Meanwhile, AMFA will not be honouring any old footballers of the state since no one is left in the state which AMFA had not honoured in the past editions of the CC Meet.
NEROCA coach T Ibomcha told Hueiyen Lanpao that his team is well prepared to beat the Assam Rifles team in the final match tomorrow.
It will be interesting to see how NEROCA handles Assam Rifles this time around, considering the fact that in the final of the 2008 edition it was defeated by Assam Rifles, he said.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles coach N Jiten said that the final match against NEROCA will be an important match for his team.
They will be playing the match with a determination to beat NEROCA again in the final as they did in the final match of the 2008 edition.
