Mixed day of State in NE wushu

Host Manipur had a mixed outing with a win and loss on the opening day of the 6th North East Zone Wushu Championships at Khuman Lampak Indoor stadium today.
The inaugural day of the championship that commenced with international Ng Toshibala Devi of Manipur taking the oath on behalf of the participants, saw Rocky Singh win the junior boys 52 kg quarter final bout in Sanshou against Laltharun Thanga as his State-mate Rabi Singh suffered defeat to Nagaland's Surang Muchanry in the junior boys 60 kg Sanshou quarter final bout.
M Sunil of Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura's Pradip Singh defeated their respective opponents in the 52 kg competition while Pranal Rajbangshi of assam and Lalruatsanga of Mizoram were the other winners in the 60 kg class.
Manipur team is being represented by 56 players in the three-day championship with Meghalaya fielding the second largest contingent at 41 followed by Mizoram and Assam as 29 and 26 respectively.
Opening ceremony of the championship hosted by Wushu Association of Manipur was attended by Manipur Olympic Association president MLA Bijoy Koijam, State's wushu chief (IPS) MS Sarangthem and Heirok AC MLA Moirangthem Okendro as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
