AIM advance into pre-quarter finals in 55th CC Meet

AIM, Khabam Lamkhai today beat UBSA and entered the pre-quarter final rounds of the ongoing 55th Sir Churachand Singh, KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, 2011 at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Even though AIM won the match, they could not display their skillfull tactics in the first half of the match which was dominated by UBSA.
The first half of the match concluded 2-1 in favour of UBSA.
However, AIM added four goals to their account in the second half and won the match.
Boboy Waiphei of UBSA drew first blood as soon as the first whistle was blown by the referee and took everyone by surprise.
But their joy was short lived when S Herojit opened the goal account of AIM with his equaliser in the 3rd minute of the match.
With both teams tied on one goal each, relentless attacks were launched by both parties to break the deadlock.
It was UBSA who was first to find the target scoring its second goal against AIM in the 36th minute with a straight shot from S Ngamneiril Kom.
In the second half, AIM players adopted a different tactics which made UBSA players unable to match them.
AIM soon came with their second equaliser in the 49th minute of the match from Kh Naoton.
Rapidly losing their domination against their opponent, UBSA struggled hard to once again lead the match with another goal.
However their hope of forging a lead never materialized as AIM players shattered their defense time and again to shower goal over goal against them.
The third goal of AIM was scored by Th Santosh in the 52nd minute while the fourth and fifth goals were scored by L Gouro and N Rajesh in the 83rd and 85th minutes of the match respectively.
K Khupneirang Kom was issued a yellow card for his unsporting behaviour during the match.
While AIM entered the pre-quarter final round of the championship after winning today's match, UBSA after losing the match had to exit from the championship with a heavy heart.
The next match of the championships, will witness TRAU and MTFC in a tough fight for a single berth in the pre-quarter final rounds, on
November 11 at 1.30 pm.
