Imphal, August 05 2009: A women body, Universal Mother's Organisation (UMO) today demanded imposition of president rule under article 356 of the Indian Constitution in the state and conduct of fresh election by dissolving the current Assembly.

The statement tabled in the House of the state Assembly with regard to the killing of people by the police commandos in the broad daylight in the crowded Imphal market extending support to the police commandos in killing people openly saying that "no other way other than killing' has violated the article 21- No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to the procedure established by law, a statement of the UMO stated.

The excessive committed by the police commandos amount to violate the fundamental rights of the citizens and when none of the MLAs give objection to the statement of the chief minister has clearly showed that Manipur Legislative Assembly has violated the Indian constitution.

So, the state Governor should impose president rule in the state and take up for reorganization of the police department so that it become a state force working under the Indian constitution, the statement of the UMO signed by Sorojini demanded.
