The State needs 1000 more nurses in various health facilities, said Health Minister Ph Parijat while speaking in the lamp lighting cum oath taking ceremony of Irengbam Thamacha Devi Nursing and Health Care Research Institute held at GM Hall today.
The Health Minister said that the State has around 100 nurses and more manpower must be inducted to meet the needs across the State.
Nurses hailing from Imphal areas do not want to be posted in hill districts, said Ph Parijat and added, "We are planning to establish more nursing institutes in every district of Manipur to cope up with the problem".
The Government is also planning to give award to qualified nurses of both private and Government nursing institutes, the Health Minister informed the gathering.
He also urged upon the nursing institutes to groom qualified and competent nurses to provide better healthcare to the people.
Maintaining that Government nursing institutes are still better than private institutes, Ph Parijat said that the Government is planning to blacklist those institutes which do not have proper facilities by conducting inspection tours.
Around 50 trained nurses including five male students of the 4th batch took oath in today's ceremony.
