Imphal, August 12 2009:
An earthquake of moderate intensity rocked the entire State early morning today.
According to Department of Earth Sciences, Manipur University, the earthquake which started at around 3.15 am (IST) lasted about 3 seconds.
The epicentre of the earthquake was located at 24.201N/94.722E near Zawgyi of Myanmar, on the eastern bank of Chindwin.
The magnitude of the earthquake is estimated to be 5.4 ML and the focal depth is about 100 kms, sources added.
There is no immediate report of casualty or loss of property due to the earthquake.
