Imphal, October 26 2009:
A 24-hour chakka bandh called by the All Tribal Disable Union, Manipur (ATDUM) from Sunday midnight has disrupted normal life in some hill districts.
The Union has been demanding for fresh recruitment notification by the competent authority, with 30 days period for applying, age relaxations of 10 years, preference for appointment for local dialect and also direct recruitment without any written examination for the primary teachers.
The bandh was effective in Senapati district, Ukhrul district and Kangpokpi.
There were no bus services from Imphal to Ukhrul and Kangpokpi to Imphal.
While Chandel, Churachandpur and Tamenglong districts were not much affected by the bandh.
