Imphal, August 20 2014:
The Thadou Students' Association (TSA) has expressed strong reservation against repeated mistakes allegedly made by Chief Minister O Ibobi, the latest being the Independence Day speech delivered at 1st MR parade ground on August 15 .
According to a press release issued by TSA assistant information and publicity secretary Lalcha Kipgen, there are 38 recognized tribes within the larger Kuki and Naga communities.
Like Naga, Kuki is a nomenclature which refers to a number of tribes and it is not the name of any particular tribe.
As such it would be illogical to treat Kuki and Thadou or Kuki and Paite or Tangkhul and Naga as separate tribes, it said.
The TSA further appealed to all the Ministers, MLAs, MDCs and officers not to mix up names of different tribes with their genealogically common name.
