Imphal, May 28 2011: A one day farmers awareness programme on artificial insemination for cattle cross-breeding was held at Talui village, Ukhrul district yesterday under the aegis of the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Govt of Manipur.

The awareness programme was graced by the village authority members led by acting headman Solomon Vashum.

The programme was organised in order to promote cattle crossbreeding programme through artificial insemination of cows.

Veterinary Officer Ukhrul Dr Ngahorshai Luithui spoke on the beneficial advantages of cattle crossbreeding through artificial insemination.

He urged cattle owners to get their local scrub bulls castrated so that artificial insemination of cows can be carried out effectively.
