Imphal, March 30 2009: A widow sustained bullet injury when suspected gunmen suspected to be underground fired at allegedly for refusing to deposit the gun to her home last night at around 8.30 pm at Khurai Konsam Leikai under Porompat police station.

Decrying the act of the gunmen, locals mostly womenfolk of the locality carried out a sit-in protest today at Khurai Konsam Leikai.

The injured widow was identified as Wahengbam Bilashini (55) wife of late Brajamani.

She sustained bullet injury at the right armpit near the chest.

According to the injured Bilasini, last night at around 8.30 pm two unknown youths entered to her house and requested to help them in carrying a small gun with them upto Salanthong.

When she refused to do so, the two youths again requested her to deposit the arm to her house.

This time also she turned the request.

When she closed the door and remained inside the house and trying to response to a phone call, the miscreants fired a bullet inside the house from a window, the report said.
