Imphal, March 30 2009:
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has instructed that with exception to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, current President and State Governor, no photographs of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, Ministers and political functionaries should be put up in the Government buildings and other public buildings.
The Commission has also instructed for removal the wall calendars and other pictures featuring the photographs of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, Ministers and political functionaries with immediate effect.
The instruction of the Commission has been accordingly communicated to all concerned including he Governor by the Joint Chief Electoral Officer of the State.
