Imphal, March 07 2009: Under the Border Area Development Programme (BADP), works are in progress to create model villagers by clustering 6/7 neighbouring villages.

Department of Border Management of the Ministry of Home Affairs has already initiated works to create 19 such model cluster villages in Manipur.

Against Rs 518.98 lakhs sanctioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs for the project, Rs 500 lakhs have been released during 2006-07. The programme has the composite provision of building schools, public health centres, community centres, village roads and water supply plants.

For the current fiscal, the Centre released Rs 1357 lakhs for the same project, informed an official source.
