Imphal, May 27 2011:
A world class fitness centre equipped with such facilities like multi-gym, aerobics, physio-testing, steam bath, juice bar, food supplement store etc would be opened at Imphal for the first time in the entire North East region by March next year.
This was informed by managing director of the Apunba Fitness Centre Yumnam Hemlet during a press meet at their Nagamapal RIMS Road office today.
At present, Apunba Fitness Centre has only gym and aerobics facility.
The centre would be upgraded by installing facilities two times larger than the facilities now available at the other centre located at Thangmeiband, Hemlet said.
Notably, Hemlet won Strong Man of India thrice and is also a bronze medallist in continental level competition for Asia.
Moreover, he worked as a trainer in different fitness centres at Pune and Mumbai for more than 10 years.
He also competed in international level competitions four times.
Body building alone cannot guarantee fitness of an individual.
The centre is being opened to share the experiences gathered outside the State and would it not be a commercial enterprise, Hemlet said.
The centre has already a list of clients which includes players who love physical culture, people suffering from obesity and other related problems as well as people who value physical fitness.
They include professionals, businessmen and doctors.
Hemlet said that he had succeeded in reducing the weight of one of his client by 24 Kgs.
Many other overweight clients have also succeeded in reducing their weights and have joined security forces, he added.
Floor manager of the centre L Kumarjit said that they would organise a physical fitness contest titled 'Transformation Challenge' under the theme 'For Better Healthy Society' in July.
The competition is about reducing weight of overweight and obese people as well as gaining weight by underweight people to the stage of a fit individual, he added.
