In response to call of the JAC, Wakat Meephams were staged at various places today demanding punishment of all those involved in brutal killing of Kasom Khullen SDO Dr Th Kishan and his two sub-ordinate staff namely Aribam Rajen and Yumnam Token.
Placards inscribed with slogans like 'Is Government of Manipur under the control of NSCN (IM) ?', 'Government should announce the names of the next innocent victims', 'Make public the acceptance of the CBI to take up the case', 'Government should bear the responsibility of killing Kishan and two staff', 'NSCN (IM) should be declared as a terrorist organisation', 'NSCN (IM) and Ukhrul DC should not try to disintegrate Mani-pur', etc at the sites of the protest demonstration.
At Keishampat Junction, the protest demonstration was organised by Poirei Ita-Meira Paibi Apunba Lup.
Participating in the demonstration, one of the women protestors said all the armed groups should restrain themselves from killing innocent people and the Government should also not protect the killers.
Along with their teachers, students of Sunrise Public School at Uripok also demonstrated in front of their school gate demanding punishment of the killers of Dr Kishan, Aribam Rajen and Yumnam Token.
One of the teachers who participated in the demonstration informed that three surviving daughters and one son of Aribam Rajen are studying in the school.
The teacher further described Aribam Rajen as a person who took proper care of his children and wished them to be brought up as good citizens.
So the killing of Rajen is a great loss to his children.
The three daughters of Rajen were also present at the protest demonstration.
The eldest daughter Reshmi is studying in class VIII, the second daughter Priyabada in class VI and the youngest Ranjita in class III.
The daughters recalled that their late father wanted them to become IPS officers and before leaving home on that fateful day, Rajen had filled their water bottles while advising them to carry drinking water to school from home every day.
At Kangjabi Lampak, local Club members and Meira Paibis of the surrounding area participated in a similar demonstration.
Placards with slogan like 'Who is next ?', 'Enough is enough' , etc were used during the demonstration.
Members of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba, Manipur also staged a Wakat Meepham at Khoyathong Machin.
Similar Wakat Meephams have also been staged at Haobam Marak, Tera Bazar, Khurai Heikru Makhong, Nilakuthi Mayai Leikai, Thoubal Achouba Sekip Thongkhong, etc by the local club members and Meira Paibis.
Placards with slogans like 'Lets uproot NSCN (IM)', 'Silence should not be construed as cowardice', 'Government should understand the pulse of the people and work accordingly', etc were also seen being used at these protest sites.
Meanwhile, various social organisations continued to condemn the killing of Kasom Khullen SDO Dr Th Kishan and his two sub-ordinat staff and demanded punishment of the killers.
All Manipur Secondary School Teachers'Association (AMSSTA), Students' Federation of India (Manipur State Committee), All Manipur Youth Protection Committee, Salungpham Mamang Likai Cha-nura Marup, Manipur PWD Employes and Workers' Association, Manipur People's Party ( Yaiskul Kendra), All Manipur Arts and Culture Students' Union, etc have come out strongly against the triple murder.
These social organisations have also demanded handed over the cadres of the NSCN (IM) involved in the killing to the custody of the of the State Government.
