Imphal, October 19 2009:
While welcoming the move to appoint primary teachers under Autonomous District Councils, Maring Students' Union (MSU) has expressed strong indignation over the manner of conducting the written test for recruitment of primary teachers by the Autonomous District Council, Chandel.
In a statement signed jointly by its president TC Menaishim and secretary M Billy Graham, the student body pointed out that fresh candidates were allotted roll numbers starting from 201 and on inquiry it was found out that candidates bearing roll nos 1 to 170 were none other than the 170 primary teachers who were appointed in 2006 but were later disqualified apart from the fact that there were no candidates bearing roll nos 171 to 200 .
The motive behind the reservation of the first 200 roll numbers for the candidates who were stiffly opposed to fresh recruitment and were proposed to boycott the said written text was obvious.
Alleging discrepancies and favouritism in the recruitment drive, the student body has stated categorically that the said written text was not acceptable and demanded that the authority concerned to conduct a fresh written test.
Meanwhile, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Chandel district and Naga Students'' Union, Chandel (NSUC) have jointly submitted a memorandum to the TD Minister for taking up necessary measures to avoid illegal appointment with regard to recruitment of 411 primary teachers in respect of Autonomous District Council, Chandel.
