The UBI Mao branch which is lying in shambles would be undergoing a major transformation including opening of an ATM booth soon.
The UBI branch at Mao was opened 32 years back.
The new development expected to infuse a renewed leash of life and modernise the UBI branch came after a team of UBI officials led by Chief Regional Manager, Silchar AK Sen, Chief Manager of CRM Office, Silchar Akhon Kabui and Chief Officer, Link Office S Chandrasekhar assessed the condition of UBI Mao branch on November 10 .
Even as core banking facility is available in the Mao branch, customers including businessmen, students and employees have been facing severe inconveniences as the branch has only two staff.
This was highlighted by the local people to the visiting UBI officials.
In response, the UBI officials gave assurance to modernise the branch as well as to open an ATM booth.
Meanwhile, the Mao Town Committee and the Pfunemei Development Association have lauded the initiative of the UBI officials to re-activate the UBI Mao branch.
