Zeliangrong community demands

Denouncing the manner of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt of India for balkanising the Zeliangrong community into six different entitles in the Bill No 108 of 2011, in the amendment Constitution order Bill, 2011, Zeliangrong Youth Front and All Zeliangrong Students' Union urged the Tribal Affairs Minister to have re-look into the matter.
A release issued by both bodies mentioned that the bill should be held back in the larger interests of Zeliangrong people as the State Government also recommended earlier to the Government of India to recognised the Zeliangrong as a schedule tribe in 1991 and 2001 .
It is also mentioned that the 2006 recommendation of the State Government upon which the present bill is premised.
It further maintained that any frontal organisations and civil societies of Zeliangrong people at large have no knowledge to it.
The unions further reaffirmed their decision and demanded the Zeliangrong people should be remained as one people/tribe.
