Imphal, June 30 2010: Members of Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has seized the Kerosene quota for the month of April which was supposed to be distributed among the students of Imphal College who are staying on rent or in hostel but were not distributed.

Informing this during a press conference today, education and academic affairs secretary of the student body Pukrambam Premchand said that the seizure was made after investigating complaints that 500 litres of Kerosene meant for the month of April have not been made available to the students.

During the course of investigation, it was found out that the said Kerosene quota had been taken by one Keisham Jackie of Mayanglangjing Tamang, who is a former student of the college, from DSO Imphal West, Premchand disclosed, adding that one permit related to the Kerosene quota for the month of May had also been recovered from the possession of Jackie.

He assured that the seized 500 litre of Kerosene would be distributed among the students and teachers of the college within five days.

Jackie has been handed over to his family members after proper counselling, he added.
