Imphal East cops strike it rich, drugs seized

Three sacks of contraband drugs and four cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor have been seized by Imphal East District Police from a truck which reached Imphal along NH 37 (erstwhile NH 53) amidst the blockade and counter blockade for and against the Sadar Hills district demand.
The seized items were shown to media persons in the office chamber of Imphal East Additional SP this evening.
Imphal East Narcotic Cell OC Inspector Th Iboton said that they have been keeping a strict vigil over trucks coming to Imphal along NH-37 since yesterday.
On checking a cement laden truck which arrived at Imphal from Jiribam at about 5 am today at Senjenthong, three sacks of contraband drugs and four cases of IMFL were found concealed among the cement bags, said Inspector Iboton.

While two sacks were filled with SP capsules, the third sack was filled with Nitrosun-10 and Relipen.
The market value of the seized drugs would be around Rs 4 lakhs.
The owner of the drugs was not travelling in the bus but the driver has been arrested and is identified as Thiyam Naoba Meitei (22) of Terakhongshangbi Maning Leikai.
According to the disclosure made by Naoba, the drugs were loaded in the truck at Fulertal, Cachar by one Md Naha (45) of Kwakta Ward No 3, added the Inspector.
