State film fraternity today joined the relay hunger strike staging under the banner of Sharmila Kanba Lup supporting the cause of Irom Sharmila at PDA Complex, Porompat.
Members of Film Forum Manipur numbering around 300 that included actors, technicians, directors and producers took part in the stir demanding repeal of AFSPA and save the life of Irom Chanu Sharmila.
Film Forum Manipur chairman W Lalitkumar while talking to The Sangai Expres said, the film fraternity is against the draconian Act which offers excessive power to the armed forces to kill people.
"Hence we are here to join various organisations and the people of the State in standing against the Act", Lalitkumar added.
The relay hunger strike began on December 10 last year completed 201th day today.
LC Jenine of Human Rights Initiative and Film Forum Manipur chairman W Lalitkumar spoke during the agitation.
Popular actor U Devita missed today's agitation as she alongwith a suspected KYKL cadre was nabbed by the police from South Extension area of New Delhi on June 26 .
On the margins of the agitation, Lalitkumar opined the incident as 'unfortunate'.
He said that the news shocked the State film fraternity and may dampen their spirit.
Echoing the same view, film ditector Oken Amakcham opined that the incident is regrettable for the film movement of the State.
