The five day long protest demonstration staged by members/volunteers of anti-drug/alcohol campaigners CADA's Singjamei and Kongba units in support of Irom Chanu Sharmila's cause for repealing the repressive AFSPA 1958 from the State concluded today.
While the protest demonstration being held under the aegis of Sharmila Kanba Lup completed the 40th day today, members of the CADA units had been sustaining the democratic form of agitation since January 14 .
Speaking to newspersons on the sideline of the protest, CADA, Singjamei president Tongbram Thaba Devi expressed that inspite of the body formed to combat the menace of drug and alcohol abuse, CADA would not shy away from taking part in all activities that would benefit people of Manipuri.
She also affirmed CADA would return to the demonstration venue again to show solidarity to Sharmila, who been on fast on death agitation for over eight years.
Thaba further opined that apart from staging sit-in-protests exerting pressure upon the Government to understand the people's sentiment and resolve for completely repealing the draconian Act through various forms of agitation in inevitable.
