Imphal, December 11 2009: Condemning the unruly conduct of the organising committee towards mediapersons, a joint emergency meeting of the editors and All Manipuri Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) has decided to restrain from publishing report related to the Orange Queen contest organised as part of the Orange Festival at Tamenglong district headquarters yesterday.

The joint meeting held here this afternoon at Manipur Press Club has also decided to boycott the future Orange Festivals until resolution of the matter.

Apart from assaulting one of the mediapersons, the organiser of the festival also reportedly used unparliamentary language to the mediapersons who have given special invitation cards to cover the event.

During the meeting, some of the mediapersons who have gone to cover the event recounted that inspite of the special invitation cards issued to each one of them, mediapersons were not provided proper seats and were even forced to vacant their seats for the jury members apart from using unparliamentary language against them.

Consequently, the media persons got up from their respective seats and sat elsewhere.

However, some of the mediapersons were hit when members of the organising committee started kicking chairs.

When this was pointed out, the organising committee members punched one of the mediapersons.
