Imphal, October 11 2009:
Asserting that it was the KLA, Malsawm group, which had abducted the BDO of Saikot some time back, the commander-in-chief of the KLO/KLA, Timothy Kuki today said that his organisation had no hand in the matter at all.
Speaking to the media at its technical headquarters at Sadar Hills today, Timothy said that the charge of the UKLA (MC), that the KLA/KLO was behind the abduction of the BDO, is nothing but just to discredit the outfit.
The charge was levelled with the intention to drive a wedge between the KLA/KLO, which is a signatory to the SoO, and the Government, added Timothy.
The KLA/KLO is a party to the SoO, said Timothy and added that after signing the peace pact, it has stopped all activities related to kidnapping, abducting and extortion.
The KLA, Malsawm group is not a signatory to the SoO, explained Timothy and added that the KLA/KLO has no relation, whatsoever with the Malsawm group.
Timothy further said that the UKLA (MC) is a gang and added that it was behind the abduction of the vice president of Kuki Inpi, Haojakhup Lupho some time back.
The Kuki Inpi leader was released only after the KRA and the KLA/KLO launched a joint operation for his rescue, said Timothy.
The two UKLA (MC) cadres, recently killed by the security forces, were involved in the abduction of the Kuki Inpi leader, said Timothy and added that they had fled to Churachandpur following the joint operation.
Clarifying that there is no one by the name of Tiger Kuki, in charge of finance in the KLA/KLO, Timothy said that the two so called KLA cadres arrested by Imphal West police from near the ABC godown at Khoyathong have nothing to do with the KLA/KLO.
The commander-in-chief of the KLA/KLO also urged all to contact in case they receive any demand letter signed by Tiger Kuki in the name of KLA/KLO.
