Ukhrul, April 09 2011:
In a significant development the United Bank of India (UBI) has opened one ATM booth at Ukhrul town here yesterday.
UBI Ukhrul branch which is one the oldest Banking institutions and the back-bone of money transaction in the district headquarters has many ups and down during the last 40 (forty) years of its establishment.
However, today it stands its coronet as one of the vital Banking network institutions in Ukhrul Town.
Precisely, after having established its branch at Ukhrul in the year 1971, UBI continuously made an effort and ventured the business as well as paving entrepreneurship to the common citizens and the public at its best.
Though at times various technical breakdowns did occur UBI being the lone financial institution in the district all this years once again persuasively and finally came up to this stage, as one of the friendly Banking service for the district by opening two (2) UBI branches - one in View-land, the heart of Ukhrul town and the other attached to Mini secretariat, southern block.
The UBI ATM opening function was graced by CEO ADC, Ningam Chamroy at 1pm yesterday in the presence of various social workers, intellectuals, students organisations, DLOs and many officers of UBI including the manager of the branch, T Khaute.
In the sideline of the function the Manager of Ukhrul Branch UBI, Khaute said that the bank is happy to give the ATM to the public of Ukhrul which is the long felt need of the people and that as of now any ATM card holders be it SBI, Axis, or Punjab, many can avail the privilege, adding that opening of account is not enough and it should be operational.
Obviously, the opening of new ATM booth at Phungreitang opposite the TV centre and near the Gandhi Avenue is reckoned to be one of the best technological hit-tech inclusions in terms of money withdrawer for the busy scheduled denizens which was demonstrated today by the chock-full public right after the opening of ATM booth.
