Imphal, August 07 2009: Belatedly reacting to a news report published in a local daily in its July 24 edition under the caption 'Hatpa Nattana Atei Pambei Leite' (there is no other option than to kill), quoting the Chief Minister as saying there is no way out to solve the problem of extortion of money except by killing, the Secretary to the Chief Minister PK Singh has clarified that the Chief Minister did not at all utter this in the Legislative Assembly.

The Chief Minister had been misquoted by the newspaper, the Secretary to the Chief Minister said in a statement.

On the other hand, Senior SP of Imphal West District L Kailun, in a statement, has asserted that the report published in another local daily on its August 7 edition under the headlines 'Policemen protest on suspension of their colleagues' is not only wrong but also baseless and misleading to the public.

No commando personnel protested and stayed away from duty as reported, the SSP added.
