Popular singer Alvina Gonson along with other rock bands and artistes of the region would be literally rocking in October in case there is no last minute hiccup to the proposed rock festival cum competition being planned in the cooler month.
Under the aegis of Global Organisation for Nurturing Society's Obsolete Norms (Gonson), an Imphal-based media entertainment and event management group, local artistes and rock bands from Shillong would be performing in the three mega event from october 9 at Palace Compound here.
Speaking to media persons today, GONSON president Alvina Gonson said including her own 'White fire' and 'spoons and Forks' based in the State, 'afflatuses' from Shillong would be on stage during the said festival.
Ruling out participation of her band in the competition section on account of being the hosts, Alvina said that performers such as Uttam and Sori Senjam would also be a part of the autumn festival which is being envisioned to extend financial assistance to orphanage centres and destitute children affected by the state of insurgency through collections of the festival.
However, the primary objective of organising the festival is to provide platform for tapping and promotion of unexplored musical talent among the North Eastern region youths, asserted the 27-year old singer who had been enthralling fans through her energetic renditions of popular numbers.
Stating that the festival hosts are confident of awarding Rs 50,000 to the best band and other attractive prizes to all sub-title winners in the competition section, Alvina affirmed GONSON would be sustaining the endeavour to encourage talented artistes come to the fore.
