Imphal, October 12:
With the objective to highlight alleged failure of the SPF Government on all fronts, a wakat meepham was staged today at Khoyathong Andolan Keithel under the aegis of NCP Manipur Unit.
Besides a large number of NCP workers, the meepham was also attended by national general secretary of NCP Youth wing Binod Kumar Sinha.
Binod Kumar arrived at Imphal today on a two day visit to the State.
Speaking on the occasion, former Chief Minister and current president of NCP Manipur Unit Radhabinod Koijam alleged that the Congress-led SPF Government has failed in all administrative works.
The law and order situation of the State has also deteriorated to the worst level and there are many places in the State where State administration is apparently non-existent, asserted Radhabinod.
Quoting the statement of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh that 40 percent of the crimes and violence reported from the North East region emanated from Manipur and that the peoples of the hills and the valley had drifted apart, the former Chief Minister took serious note of the Prime Minister's statement saying that it was detrimental to the integrity of the State.
Nevertheless, the NCP president declared that all the NCP workers would work with a sacrificial spirit to safeguard the territorial integrity and unity of Manipur.
Claiming that he has some love for Chief Minister O Ibobi as an individual, even then Radhabinod conveyed his preference to love Manipur rather than Ibobi seeing the lawlessness and lack of development in the State.
Remarking that the six year long fast unto death stir of Irom Chanu Sharmila was not to earn name and fame for herself but for the good of the people of Manipur, Radhabinod declared that NCP would always stand by Sharmila in her campaign against AFSPA.
He further claimed that he had written to the Prime Minister and Home Minister in August 2004 urging for repeal of the hated AFSPA.
The former Chief Minister also castigated the SPF Government for abruptly terminating the service of part time lecturers instead of working to solve the issue amicably.
