The 'bullet' that scalped the right eye of Naorem Prakash, in the course of a protest rally from Langthabal Kunja to Kyamgei Pal Ahanbi at about 8 pm of August 6, has been recovered.
The 'bullet' that tore Prakash's right eye, was allegedly fired from an AK rifle by police in their bid to disperse the rallyists.
After the protest rally was thwarted by police, Prakash did not return home.
Subsequently local Meira Paibis went to the area where the police firing took place.
There they found a piece of human flesh and a spent bullet of AK rifle in the centre of splashed blood.
In connection with the incident, local Meira Paibis lodged a complaint at Singjamei police station the next day (August 7).Accordingly, Singjamei police registered a case and asked for the spent bullet.
Speaking to media persons this afternoon at Langthabal Kunja, the local Meira Paibis said that the spent bullet would be handed over to Singjamei police station tomorrow through Councillor of Lilong Nagar Panchayat Ward No 1 (Langthabal Kunja).
While taking over the spent bullet, Singjamei police should issue a seizure memo, the Meira Paibis said.
It is reported that Naorem Prakash who is currently in a critical condition would be taken to AIIMS, Delhi on Wednesday.
The right eye of Prakash was blown off by the police firing, said Prakash's mother.
Being a family living from hand to mouth, Meira Paibis would be seeking donation from the locality in order to meet the expenditure needed to take Prakash to AIIMS, the worried mother said.
