Imphal, November 08 2009:
All Manipur Students Guardians' Organisation has appealed to all the parents to send their children to school from tomorrow and allow them to have their normal classes.
Addressing a press conference at the Organisation office located at Palace Compound here this afternoon, its advisor H Kulla categorically stated that students who are the future of our society have become the victims of the confrontation between the Apunba Lup and the Government and if we have to wait for the resolution of this conflict everything would be lost by then.
So every parents should start sending their children to their respective schools from tomorrow.
'We the parents should ensure the rights of our children whose future are in stake now due to deprivation of education for long without any fear', he exhorted.
It may be recalled here that three student bodies namely AMSU, MSF and KSA have jointly called for indefinite class boycott since September 9 last in connection with the public demand for resignation of CM O Ibobi Singh and punishment of the police commandos involved in the July 23 alleged fake encounter incident at Khwairamband Bazar which left two persons death while five others wounded.
Kulla further observed that the July 23 incident was a result of the ongoing conflict in the State.
Many fallouts of this conflict have been witnessed in the past and many more still can be expected.
But it would unreasonable as well as inappropriate for the students to involve in them.
In the same vein, he also said that the failure of the State Government to take up necessary actions to redress the grievances of the people is condemnable.
In connection with the July 23 incident, it is expected of the Government to take up atleast some remedial measures like release of the arrested activists of the Apunba Lup, giving compensation to the slain as well as injured victims of the July 23 incident and punishment of the involved police commandos.
Reiterating the appeal for ensuring normal conduct of the classes from tomorrow, Kulla also called upon all the authorities of the educational institutions, headmasters, principals and managing authorities of the schools to provide adequate security for the students.
In view of the prevailing situation in the State, the Organisation has furthermore called upon general public not to come up with any misleading statements in the media and the senior citizens to advice the people on what steps should be taken in future to bring about a solution to the present issue.
