Imphal, June 23 2009:
While conveying gratitude to all organisations and individuals who supported the general strike called yesterday against the failure of the Government to take up any necessary action against the killing of Prof Islamuddin, the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Dr Md Islamuddin has cautioned that the State Government that detention of the people pulled up by police during the general strike yesterday would only prove to be an immense to the ongoing protest movement.
A press release issued by the JAC decried the inaction of the Government on it decision to hand over the murder case to CBI.
It also conveyed strong resentment against the failure of the Government to publish the investigation report on the IRB personnel who surrendered to police for his involvement in killing Prof Islamuddin.
It also reminded that there have been widespread protests and agitation against the inaction of the Government as well as against the refusal of the MU Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar on moral ground.
Demanding unconditional release of all the persons pulled up during yesterday's general strike, the JAC appealed to the Government to do justice.
It further questioned the motive of the Government behind its refusal to disclose anything about the murder even as it has reportedly collected several clues.
The JAC pledged that it would continue with its protest movements together with the people until the truth is established.
