After nearly five hours of deliberation, the SPF Cabinet has decided to prolong imposition of AFSPA 1958 for another year in the State, with the exception of seven ACs from where the disturbed area status have already been lifted.
In addition the Cabinet entrusting the CM with the task of reviewing AFSPA status on a yearly basis, it also resolved to seek consent of the Governor for a two day winter session of Assembly on Dec 22 and 23 .
Moreover, the session approved payment of a total of Rs 1.59 crores to candidates of ADC polls whose properties were damaged in attacks by suspected anti-adc poll activists.
The payment would be based on police report (FIRs), informed SPF spokesman N Biren Singh after the meeting.
Another resolution of the Cabinet meeting relates to hiking power tariff of public consumers by 30 percent.
Against the existing rate of Rs 2.60 per unit the Cabinet decided to raise it to Rs 3.25, Biren added.
