Imphal, December 14:
Delhi police and AIIMS authority obviously do not see eye to eye when it comes to the case of Irom Sharmila.
In yet another replay of an earlier incident, Sharmila was not allowed to leave the hospital by Delhi police though authority of AIIMS discharged her today evening at 3.According to reports from Delhi, Sharmila was discharged from AIIMS at 3 pm today, but she was not allowed to leave the hospital by the police, who maintained that the Union Home Ministry had instructed that she should be confined in the hospital.
When the brother of Sharmila, Irom Singhajit approached to inquire the police why she was not allowed to leave, a police officer in charge of the case, said that Sharmila has been booked under Section 309 of the IPC which is not a formal arrest.
However if she leaves the hospital then she would be formally arrested, the police officer conveyed.
Sharmila however took off her nasal feeds and tried to leave the hospital, but the policemen on duty at the hospital refused to let her leave on the ground that the Union Home Ministry had instructed that she should not be allowed to leave the hospital.
On the other hand, the doctors of AIIMS have informed her that since she has been officially discharged there will be no doctors or nurses to attend to her.
At the time of filing this report it is learnt that Sharmila is still in the hospital but she has taken off her nasal feedings.
The case of Sharmila will come up for hearing at the Court tomorrow morning.
