MCI officials to arrive

With the Medical Council of India set to depute a team to the State in connection with the proposal to set up the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Chief Minister O Ibobi today convened a high level meeting at his office to discuss the steps to be taken ahead of the visit.
The meeting was attended among others by Health Minister P Parijat, PDA Chairman MLA N Loken, Chief Engineers of PWD, PHED, Power, doctors of the Health Department, TP Cell and officials of PDA.
As the MCI team is expected to arrive on November 15 or at any other time within this month, the meeting discussed in details the works to be taken up ahead of the proposed visit.
The present condition and shortcomings of JN hospital as well as the need to keep intact the designated sites for the needed class rooms to come up were discussed thoroughly.
Instructions were also issued to finish repairing the roads leading to the hospital as well as those inside and and to repair the culverts, before the MCI team lands here.
A detailed report on the present condition of the hospital as well as well as for the proposed institute will also be submitted to the MCI team.
The approval of the MCI is mandatory for setting up any medical institutes in India.
