According to K Lengkham Thangal and Salas Thangal, some youths of Y Langkhang village crossed into the land of Thangal Surung village and were tilling land for jhum cultivation last week.
To settle the matter according to Kuki customary law, the intruders should be offering a pig today.
Last night, three/four youths led by KNA cadre Thangpao Touthang came to the village and asked Lengkham Thangal if would like to feast on pork.
To this, Lengkham replied he would not have any pork.
Then Thangpao Touthang demanded Rs 20,000 by this morning for a timberland sold by Lengkham.
Reminding that he had earlier given Rs 56,000 after selling the same timberland, Lengkham said that he could not pay the amount as he had no money at present.
However, before leaving the village, Thangpao insisted that the money he demanded should be paid by 6 am today.

As they were discussing the matter, Thangpao Touthang came there together with some men.
Then they thrashed the village chief and the secretary mercilessly inflicting severe injuries.
